I pride myself on designing evidenced-based learning opportunities and creating experiences that meet learners where they are. I consider my audience and do my best to provide activities that meet a wide range of people. I want to inspire participants to be brave and willing to take risks in their learning, so I use humor and humility when presenting to create an environment that feels safe.
In my own experience as a workshop participant, I love it when I leave a session with something new to consider. It is my goal to provide this same experience to my colleagues by keeping content & activities relevant, accessible, interactive, and impactful. One of the unique aspects of my workshops is that they typically conclude with the creation of an action plan. This way, participants leave with a clear vision of how they will apply what they learned. My hope is that people leave feeling excited about how they will infuse the new knowledge into their work!
My workshops are typically designed to be three hours or longer. The complexity of the topics and amount of interactive activities will determine the length of the workshop. I present on a variety of topics. Below is a list of my most requested workshops (for a full list of my presentations, please read more about my work):
Developing a Resilient Interpreting Practice
The Impact of Mindset on Interpreting Work
Mentoring and Coaching Interpreters
Active Preparation Strategies
Improving Effectiveness of Interpretations in K-12 Classroom Settings
Analyzing Classroom Discourse
Community of Practice Sessions for Interpreters and Mentors
The bottom line... facilitating practitioner development is one of the aspects of my work that I love the most. Designing learning opportunities for interpreters is always an exciting challenge. I approach my work as a facilitator and presenter in the same way I do all things- looking for opportunities to grow and develop in my understanding of what is most effective. For that reason, no two workshops are ever the same. I hope to present for your group or organization soon!
